we are rockstars!

I have good news and I have great news.

The good news is that we move in one week from today! Yippee! I am so excited I can't stand it. I can't wait to organize and put all of our new dishes away and set up our 2nd bedroom and just get settled in a place of our own finally!

The great news is that I got a promotion!

For the past 3 months, I have been a Support Teacher in the PreK-1 (younger 4yos) room. There were 2 support teachers and one lead. I am qualified to lead my own class and was sort of promised that would happen sooner than later when I was hired. I was starting to get a little frustrated but kept my head up because even in this particular school the support position is a pretty great one.

And then last Monday, the girl who leads the preschool 2 class (the oldest 3yos) put her 2 weeks in...and they offered me the job!

I accepted and am very excited about the added responsibility this is going to entail.

Even better, having watched the new school year transition, I know exactly where my new classroom needs to be in terms of their skills before the enter the class that I was in... is this getting confusing?

Long story short, the class I am taking over has not been run in the manner that it should been...kids are leaving the room and can't even write their names!

This might be a rough couple of months getting things back on track, but I have a great support teacher to help me and I am definitely ready for a challenge!

The other great news is that Rick got a promotion too! I don't know the ins and outs of it but I know that he too is very excited about the new job responsibilities!

Well we are off to begin the football weekend!

Hope this finds you all happy and healthy!

Love,
your promoted richmonders.

just a quick update.

Two more weeks until our big move. I am so excited I cannot even stand it! I cannot wait for everybody to see our awesome apartment and neighborhood! (If you would like to help us move, feel free! Rick and I will be providing free pizza and beer to those who come out and sweat for us!)

We already live like an old married couple... We go to bed at 9pm every night and the highlight of our week is college football on Saturdays and NFL football on Sundays. What will we do come March?!?!?

My parents flew down to Auburn for the game tonight, as did my sister, Kaira, her husband, Bill and my wonderful niece Delaney!

Speaking of, Kaira posted some new photographs of Delaney at school and I thought I would share my favorites...

The 21st century version of the yellow and red car we drove around in when we were her age...

She's just jammin...

She is so artistic she has to eat the paint, too!

Little Miss Sassypants... what a ham!

She looks a bit top heavy!

Just stretching out.

Well, I suppose that is all for now. We are off to Mulligan's to watch the lsu beat auburn!

GEAUX TIGERS!

Love,
your almost-moved richmonders.

Ps. Don't forget to call me if you are interested in some heavy lifting!

finally!

After a long, strenuous and quite frustrating search for a place of our own... Rick and I officially signed a lease today!

As of October 1st, our new residence will be on West Ave. in the fan district of Richmond. Yes, you read correct, the elusive and quite exclusive West Ave. You know... the cutest street in the fan that is only 3 blocks long but is a neighborhood in itself.

I know those that grew up outside of the fan or have never spent a significant amount of time being a fan rat probably won't understand the significance, but it is one of those streets that fan rats can only dream of living on. Sort of like Monument Ave. but Monument is actually more likely because it is waaay longer.

So suddenly God's plan is clear once again... to make finding an apartment very difficult for us so that we would wait for this amazing gem and to fulfill a little girl's fan rat dream!

So back to the apartment, it is a 2 bedroom, one bath with a beautiful kitchen and bay window in the living room with a washer and dryer and a back patio/garden! And the best part is we are getting all of this for waaaay less than they could charge us. (I mean it is West Ave!) It isn't a big bad realty company renting it but instead the people that own it, so it seems they aren't renting it to get rich!

They have all these cool events like the big Halloween bash where they shut the street down and have costume contests and trick-or-treaters galore. They also have big cookouts and block parties and all kinds of neighborhood-like activites.

I don't know how else to show you how excited we are about this new apartment! It really is going to be the perfect place for Rick and I to start our married life together!

Well, I will keep you posted on the move and let you know when we will be ready to show off our awesome street and apartment!

We hope this finds you all happy and healthy!

Love,
your soon-to-be-fan-rats-once-more!

delaney turns 1!

We went to Bill's (my brother-in-law) sister's house for a Labor Day/Delaney's first birthday party this past Sunday. We drove up in the late morning and basically ate all day long. We had such a great time, we decided to stay the night so we could hang out with Bill and Kaira and all of Bill's siblings, neices, nephews, etc.

Here are a few pictures from the shindig...

How can you not giggle when you see this girl dance?

Trying to take a family portrait, but all Delaney wanted was kisses.

Just about a perfect family portrait.

Her very first birthday tiara.

Opening gifts, of course that Redskin outfit is from us!

Eating her ice cream cone cupcake...yummy!

What a happy birthday girl!

Icing was seriously everywhere, including the tissue paper from the gifts, her tiara, her fingers, nose, legs, dress, kaira's legs, my hands and the list goes on!

The morning after their sugar-high!

We hope you enjoyed viewing the photographs as much as we enjoyed taking them. She is such a blessing!

We love you all!

much awaited honeymoon pictures...

I know it has taken me forever to post photographs from the honeymoon, but I promise it is because our readjustment period really took the two weeks that we have been back. I have to say a week on an island with no schedule and basically no plans, made it crazy difficult to come back to a very structured lifestyle (not that I am complaining...)

So, here you go. I won't give a play-by-play as it is very long and boring, but I will share my most favorite pictures from our week in the Bahamas.

My HUSBAND and I out one night to see a live band at the Cricketers Pub.

True local Bahamian music called Junkanoo. They had a Festival that was really fun!

A beautiful sunset over the Caribbean Sea.

Cool shot of the hut we hung out on the island at Sandals Cay.

Yes, our very own Corona Advertisement...too bad they didn't serve any or else we would've included it in our photograph!

Rick waiting for the ferry to scoop us from Sandals Cay back to Sandals mainland.

A towel puppy our butler left us, sporting my oakleys of course!

My tan husband just leaning on a pole.

Always sportin' the tiger colors...

The chess set by our villa. Had to take a picture because it was almost life-size.

And last but not least, since it is obviously a tradition now, we wrote in the sand...

Well, that is all for now.

We went to Delaney's first birthday party in Northern Virgina last Sunday so I will probably post those photographs in the next day or so...

But, I must go watch the Redskin kick-off now!

We love you all!

Love,
your loosing-our-bahamian-tan richmonders.
