a place in portland to call our own.

After a short hiatus from our free internet at the hotel, we found a cute coffee shop down the road that has free wifi!

So now we can show you what our place looks like.

As you can see we have no furniture and will live without it until we go home for the wedding. But that is okay, we have plenty to see and do to keep us busy.

Hope this finds everybody well.

Love,
your furniture-less BUT NOT apartment-less portlanders.

Goodbye hotel!

Well after jumping through hoops of blazing flames and selling our soul to the devil...
...We finally signed a lease this afternoon!

2 bed 1 bath on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of the area off of our wonderful balcony in a building called Lovejoy Station. It even has a fitness room so we have no excuses not to be exercising!

It is in downtown on the northwest side in an area called the Pearl District. For those of you who don't know it is the artsy fartsy area with art galleries and wine bars every other corner. It wasn't Rick's first choice but he knew I loved it so we compromised.

Also! We have an address now!! 1040 NW 10th Ave. #410 Portland, OR 97209 Yippee!!

This is all very exciting! Unfortunately we have no furniture until after Kaira's wedding so we need to get a few things to live by until then.

So we have conquered the living situation, now we get to actually enjoy the city. The Portland Zoo is on the agenda for Friday, so we can see some real life oregonian ducks and beavers! And we are thinking about taking a train up to Seattle in a couple of weeks cause it is way cheap.

More to come, promise!

Love, your official oregonians.

Ps. It is official, everybody is welcome to visit us, since we will now have a place for you to stay!

still purple, maroon, and gold...

finally rick has something to say...

uneventful morning. woke up way too early to get a rental car back across town, took the longest bus ride ever to "experience" public transportation, and erin found an apartment!!, i know its far from a house but it is in the pearl district and close to everything which is what she wanted.....not what i wanted.....so i will be getting a sweet murphy bed for my pain and heartbreak and suffering. thank you for your tears...

also odd as it sounds, there are lsu and redskin fans in portland, or. strange. i am happy. today we went to and thoroughly enjoyed the city bar. sports sports sports. i am happy. we watched the game with new friends in the vip room upstairs with our own big screen and our own small bar. we also now know the owner of this bar. i am happy.

it was weird waking up at 8 o'clock and college game day was already on.. i was not happy, but i got over it quickly...i didnt have to wait till 11 o'clock..so i became happy again.

lsu won today, saturday was good... tomorrow is sunday which means i will be getting up at 9 to catch the pregame and the city bar will open at ten in the morning for kickoff. i will not be happy but as proven today i should get over it quickly.

hail to the redskins
hail vic-to-ry
braves on the warpath
fight...for old....DC

love, us

ps. This is possibly our new home. in the building, not the streetcar :0)

Oregon -> Day Two

I promise the blogs are not going to be daily forever, but probably will be for the first few weeks.

We went to this awesome bar for happy hour but it was reeeeeally pack, but they did have an absolutely amazing view of the city. (It was on the 30th floor of the tallest building in Portland, it better right?)

Things we learned today...
The Willamette River is pronounced: wil-am-it, not wil-uh-met like we had thought.
Couch St. is pronounced coo-ch not cow-ch like the thing you sit on in your den. hmph! We are still trying to figure out if they use different words for the street and the furniture.
If you have ever said "ya'll" you will always say "ya'll." Apparently it is one of those words you don't lose, even if you lose your accent.
Portland Beavers are the AAA baseball team that are the affiliate of the Padres (for you nonbaseballers... Richmond Braves to Atlanta Braves as Portland Beavers are to San Diego Padres)...BUT don't be fooled, there are also Oregon State University Beavers. And University of Oregon Ducks... AND beavers and ducks in the Oregon Zoo... pretty confusing, huh?

Goodnight Richmond. Thanks for stopping by!

Love,
Your new half beaver - half ducks... just kidding we will only be half redskin - half tiger!!

First Day in Portland

So this is Mt. Hood the way we saw it first straight from the window of the airplane. The picture doesn't even do it justice. Absolutely breathtaking.

We are staying in a hotel near downtown for a few days while we meet with realtors and try to find a place to live. But we are definitely getting psyched for our first football viewings in the big OR.
AND We already have plans for happy hour tomorrow night to taste Portland's finest microbrews!

We will update as soon and as often as we can.

Love you all,
Almost officially half ducks

AND the skins won!! Now our teams are undeated.
Go skins! Geaux tigers!

Love, your engaged Oregonians.

Ps. There will be pictures posted as soon as I get them!

A Visit with our niece

We just got back from our first visit with our new niece Delaney Meredith Boston. She is precious and definitely the best baby in the world. She sleeps a lot and doesn't cry which makes hanging out with her pretty easy.

Here are some photos from our visit:

And of course you know our family, only two weeks old and already out at the bar to watch her first LSU Tiger stomping!

Yes, she is wearing a LSU cheerleader outfit.

Tomorrow is our party!! And then Wednesday we leave early. We will keep everyone posted.

Our week left in the RIC!

One week from today we will be flying to Oregon to start our new life.

Why Oregon? W
e aren't really sure. We feel like God is calling us there so we are just going to see what's in store. Maybe we will hate it and we won't go back after the wedding. But my guess is that Oregon is us.

Our plan is to go to find jobs and a place to live in the 5 weeks that we are out there. We plan to fly back October 24, so we can travel to Charlotte on the 25th for Kaira and Bill's Wedding. The following weekend we are going to the Alabama game with mom and dad. After that we will pack up the U-haul and drive back west.

We have a very exciting road ahead of us. But all of you will be missed.

But before any of that can happen... we must have a PARTY!!
