YAY! We finally have a kitchen table... with a kitchen the size of ours it was much needed! It has 2 leaves inside that pull out to seat 6 as well. I am so excited that Rick and I don't have to eat at the coffee table in front of the TV anymore! Thank you Mom and Dad!!
You know you are a grown-up when a kitchen table and a scrapbooking room are the highlights of your christmas... what's next? I will probably be asking for a vacuum for Christmas!
Love,
your all-growed-up richmond rices.

what a merry, merry christmas!
Mixed with lots of family, fun and everything a young couple could dream for...
Seriously, I don't even know where to begin. We must have been pretty good this year because Santa came through in full-force.
We got everything we needed... Rick got tons of warm clothes for work which is what he really needed. And I got lots of new sweaters which maybe isn't what I needed but wanted as well as lots of scrapbooking stuff!
Wait, I need to rewind from Christmas Day and tell you more about our week... because that is what it has been for us, Christmas week, because we have so much family to pack in!
So Saturday, my sister and her family came to Richmond and we had our Christmas "Eve" Dinner. (The day might change but the menu never does- garlic stuffed filet mignon, homemade feta cheese mashed potatoes, parmesan green beans, broccoli and pillsbury crescent rolls... mmmmmmm!)
We unwrapped our gifts that night... we got lots of Redskins stuff including some things to keep us warm for the Redskins game we had tickets to compliments of my parents. We also got some awesome artwork, including a limited edition WoodGraph of a couple that was just married at the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans (This is a piece I have had my eye on for sometime!) As far as artwork goes we also got some awesome pictures of my sister and Delaney... one of which is Delaney in her Redskins Cheerleading outfit that we bought here! SO PRECIOUS!
Small picture of our New Orleans art but the best I could find.
The angelfish rocker we bought Delaney that she couldn't wait for Rick to put together!
Kaira rockin' the Redskins gear.
Delaney rockin' her belly!
I think Delaney wanted to trade Grandad her bath toys for his bottle of wine...
Sunday we went to the Redskins vs. Eagles game with Kaira and Bill. Despite the cold... we had a GREAT time! It helped that the Redskins finally pulled through with a win! We had great company, great parking, great seats and great passes to an awesome tailgate party with food and games galore!
The boys rockin' their matching Christmas presents.
My sister and I rockin' our matching scarves.
The Bostons.
We complained Kaira didn't look excited enough to be at a Redskins game...
The Newlyweds.
Me as Chris Cooley!
Rick having some trouble...hahaha
View from our awesome seats! On the other side from the last time we were here but just as good!
It was freezing...
Monday, we had a couple of Christmas parties to attend, both of which were very fun but kept me out too late and Tuesday we stayed in and wrapped gifts galore!!
Yesterday, we headed to Rick's Nanny's house of the family Christmas Party where we ate tons of food and had tons of laughs as we did our White Elephant Gift exchange. The highlight at Nanny's though was my first snowbabies! All of the ladies in Rick's family collect some sort of figurines and I chose snowbabies!
Nanny's dog teddy and the ginormous bone we bought him... he really doesn't know what to do with it!
My very first snowbaby!
And my second...
We went to Lynn's house after that and unfortunately didn't take any pictures :( but we had a great time and once again were spoiled! I can't decide if my favorite thing were the sweet intricate earrings or the wooley boots!
Then we went home to relax before we had to be at my mother-in-law's this morning. Rick had been planning a special surprise that he had to stay up late last night to work on, but I will save that for later...
We went to my mother-in-law's this morning... We got some stuff for our house including a new cookie jar that matches our dishware perfectly! And some other fun things like a perfume (YAY!) and a travel coffee mug (Double YAY!) And of course another snowbaby!!!!
All the kids being silly!
And my third snowbaby... I'd say I might have a mini collection already! (She is scrapbooking.. how perfect!)
Then, we went to Rick's other Grandma's house to see them and his dad and Gilley (his dad's ladyfriend). We had a great visit and even got some AMAZING hand painted wine glasses from Gilley... if I could take a picture to post I would! I cannot wait to pop a bottle of red for them!
After that we went an visited with my parents for a bit because its Christmas!
Phew. Then we came home and took a 3 hour nap.
I feel so accomplished! We have managed to juggle so much and not go insane! :)
Left on our Christmas week agenda...
-pick out our kitchen table tomorrow with my folks
-spend our giftcards! also tomorrow
-A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant at the Firehouse Theater tomorrow night with my folks
-Shelton Family Christmas Party in Maryland on Saturday
-drive to Deltaville to have a proper visit with my father-in-law and Gilley
I think we are about halfway through our Christmas week.
I hope this finds everybody enjoying the happiest of all their holidays!
Love,
your blessed richmond rices.
Ps. I had to save the best for last! I have the most fabulous husband... who not only got me a bunch of different size bins (with his sister Jennie's help) but also spent Christmas Eve organizing 6 boxes of all of my scrapbooking and craft things! I was so shocked! I mean what an overwhelming project! And he did such a great job... I already fit in some time today to work on a small project.
BEFORE - which does not do it justice because its all in boxes, little can you tell that the boxes are just jammed with all kinds of stuff from exactoknives to stickers to cutsouts from magazines... it was insanity!
AFTER
Needless to say, I am sooo stoked to have my own space!

crawled back from under a rock...
Wow so... Sorry it has been so long.
I don't have a great excuse. Maybe its because the weather makes me want to get under the covers and watch a movie... maybe its because we don't have internet... I think I am going to go with the ladder. I actually have been dying to update this thing but without internet its quite difficult and takes WAAAY more motivation...
So let's see. I think I owe you pictures from Thanksgiving...
Delaney getting her belly ready for her first big turkey day.
Apparently the turkey was not her favorite part!
Mr. & Mrs. Rice's first Christmas photograph!
Silly girl was actually still awake after our huge feast!
Delaney played with these beads most of the tailgate!
And she was lovin the hat so much, her dad bought her her very own baseball cap!
Probably the cutest picture of the weekend!
Brother and his lady friend, Justina.
They say, "Grrrr-GEAUX TIGERS!"
Rick and I.
My pops and I.
Delaney chewin' on a bone!
She was lovin' my glasses.
The Shelton-Boston-Rice clan.
Brother and I.
Started raining during the game so we made Delaney a shield of sorts.
Outside the Clinton Library... what a grandfatherly shot.
Inside the Clinton Library... Delaney couldn't get enough of the Christmas decorations.
And now for something completely different...
Two Fridays ago, we went to the Grand Illumination in downtown Richmond. That is when they turn the Christmas lights on for the first time.
If I had to pick my favorite holiday it would probably be Halloween followed close second by Thanksgiving. Now that isn't to say that I am a bah-humbug BUT I don't start playing Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving either. But this year, being stressed out with the economy and trying to juggle so many things... friends, families, parties, obligations... I wasn't exactly awaiting Christmas with every bating breath...
BUT, when they lit the huge tree at the James Center (the picture does it no justice) I was instantly excited it was Christmas and for the first time the Christmas spirit was in me.
So much in fact that Rick and I went out a bought our very first Christmas tree the next day!
So I think that sort of brings everybody up to date on the past couple weeks (yes, in fact our life has become that boring...)
We have a busy end of the year ahead of us...We will update as soon as we can.
We love you all and for fear we may miss you before Christmas...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Love,
your internet-less but still alive richmonders.
Ps. I cooked Rick dinner tonight! Yes, you read correctly, I, Erin Shelton Rice, cooked my husband, James Richard Rice Jr., dinner. Don't hold your breath on that happening again anytime soon, he isn't! :)
