3 weeks to go!

My sister and mother hosted a fabulous bridal shower for me yesterday. I don't know about the rest of the ladies but I had a GREAT! time.

I don't think I can relay everything but I will highlight a few things...

First of all, we played a game where we had to see if we had certain things in our purses... Rick's mother and nanny and I were on a team together and we won because nanny had toothbrush in her purse which was worth 15 points!

Lets see... I got the most amazing gifts, especially some stuff that will be useful on the honeymoon like new beach towels and an awesome laundry bag!

But I have to tell a story to tell about my most favorite gift...

So, Rick's family does this white elephant gift exchange for Christmas where everybody brings a gift and they get swapped and stolen, etc etc. Well last Christmas the gift I picked was this snowman figurine carrying a drum and it was stolen and swapped before I could steal it back and I was genuinely sad. All the aunts fight over the beautiful figurines and I lost :(. So Rick's nanny bought me the exact same one! I don't think I can explain how much I love it but it makes me feel like officially part of his family. (Don't get me wrong I felt like a part of his family before, but now it is official!) But anyway... it meant so much to me!

And the very best part was the ice cream cake my sister had made with my FAVORITE ice cream flavor including caramel sauce!

Overall, it was a wonderful party with great food and great gifts. Rick even got a gift that was geared toward him! My aunt won a lottery at her work for 2 tickets to a Redskins game so we are going in October! Needless to say, Rick was a happy boy when he came to pick me up!

Just goes to show once again how blessed we are to have such an amazing family and to be marrying into one is well. Rick and I truly could not ask for anything or anyone better.

Love,
your soon-to-be-wed richmonders.

soon to be an ex-gimp!

Good news from my foot doctor yesterday! He took another X-ray and everything seems to be healing perfectly. I have another appointment in 3 weeks and he hopes I will be back in a regular shoe!

In other news... I had my second dress fitting and I am getting more and more excited! I can't believe it's less than a month away!

Next weekend is my family bridal shower, which I am very excited about. It seems my sister has gone above and beyond! I can't wait to have all the ladies together!

That is really all we have to update. I hope this finds everybody healthy and happy. We look forward to seeing everybody for our big day that is sooooo sooooon!!!

Love,
your quarter-gimp richmonders.

happy independence day!

At the last minute (as in on my lunch break Thursday afternoon) Rick and I decided to drive to the Outer Banks for my family's annual beach week.

For those of you who are not in my family... my grandparents rent 2 beach houses in Whalehead (north of Corolla) for the week of 4th of July. This has been an annual tradition for most of my life and it is usually the only time all 25+ of us are together. There are many, many traditions wrapped up in this one week which make it a lot of fun. This year only 3 people (my cousin Chris, his new wife Mollie and my brother) of our entire family were absent so that was pretty special.

There are 6 kids of my grandparents so each of those 6 kids and their families fix dinner for the whole clan one night. And we have a huge crab feast every year on the 4th.

I am very glad we decided to go because it was very relaxing and wonderful to see all of our family.

This is our clan...

This is our clan being silly...

We drove back last night so we would have today to get ready for the week.

On a different note, Rick and I went to church this morning. Not as shocking as it seems, we have been talking about finding a church that suits us for quite sometime, we just finally got the motivation to get up and do it.

We went to a church called Velocity out at the Short Pump Cinemas and really enjoyed it. It was a little makeshift considering a lot of the congregation was still on vacation but we enjoyed it enough to want to go back and check it out next Sunday.

There are a couple of other churches we are interested in but we figured we give this one a full month before we could really digest it and then go from there. They are doing a series of sermons this month called "Confessions of a Pastor" talking about how Pastors question their faith just like the rest of us and the first one was pretty awesome.

We will let you know how our quest for a faith community goes.

We love you all and hope you have had a great vacation. We are both very thankful to live in such an amazing country with such amazing families.

Love,
your spiritually-enriched richmonders.
